In 2002 the group of Slovak photographers prepared the exhibition titled Slovak Documentary Photography and published the book Emerging from the Shadows. The book was edited by Colin Jacobson, UK-based photo editor. Both the exhibiton and the book served as a basis for the grant programme Photodocument.sk to support long-term photography projects mapping the changes of the current society in the Slovak Republic.

We are now into the fifth year of the project. VACULIK ADVERTISING agency is the key donor of the project. The Agency decided to grant the amount of 100,000 (one hundred thousand) Slovak crowns each year to a photographer selected by the jury. We believe that the grant programme funded by VACULIK ADVERTISING agency is an important contribution to the Slovak photography. 4 previous Photodocument.sk grants were awarded to photographers Andrej Bán, Martin Marenčin , Andrej Balco and Jozef Ondzik. The grant programme is opened to any photographer, regardless of his/her nationality who has worked on a long-term basis on a photo project documenting the changes in Slovakia. The programme has transparent rules comparable to similar schemes abroad.

The following entries are welcome - long-term photo documentary projects that display the life in Slovak Republic in its various forms and changes. The winning photographer who receives the award must continue his work on the project

The photographer should submit 8 to 12 photographs, size 24x30 cm (A4 size) which must not be digitally manipulated and which best represent his/her photo project.

The photographer should also submit his/her CV, maximum 1 page and a short description (maximum 1 page) of the photo project.

Deadline for entries is Friday, 17 March 2006.

Pictures should be labelled "Photodocument.sk" and delivered by 14 March, 2006 to: VACULIK ADVERTISING, Ulica odbojárov 1, 831 04 Bratislava, Slovak Republic

The winner will be selected on Saturday, 18 March 2005 by the jury: Aurel Hrabušický / Slovak National Gallery, Filip Vančo / photographer, educator at VŠVU, Peter Kerekeš / film director, educator at VŠMU, Jozef Ondzik / photographer, winner of grant award in 2005, and a representative of VACULIK ADVERTISING.

The jury will select the winning project and based on their recommendation, VACULIK ADVERTISING will grant 2006 award.
